The KA row adds the K consonant to each vowel, creating five new characters. This is the second row in the Hiragana chart. Notice how each character combines the K sound with a vowel: か (ka), き (ki), く (ku), け (ke), こ (ko). These characters appear frequently in everyday Japanese words.
